Concentration "Bug's Life"This is the first art piece I did for this concentration. I titled it "White Trash" because it shows a fly mother with a cigarette pushing her larva babies on a nice walk. I tried to make it seem like the kind of weird mothers that I see around this town.
This piece is called "Ant Family Grocery Shopping". I made it seem like actual ant behavior by having them carry the items over their heads and having them walk in a line. I thought it was funny.
I named this one "Praying Mantis" for obvious reasons. I thought it would be neat to put pope clothing on a mantis and have it's hands together. It's not the most clever thing ever but I like how literal it is.
This one was just a little explosion of my mind. I was kind of getting tired of thinking of new things to do with bugs so I just drew whatever came to mind and this was the result.
This is my least favorite for sure. It's titled "Thug Bug". I thought of the title first then I drew what came to mind and it's still funny to me but i don't personally like it.
I like to call this guy Mr.Slime. This one is just a fun one I did because I wanted to have a little character in the concentration. He's just a creepy fly man that lives among the other bugs.
My mind exploded on this one also. I was a little tired of the black and white and I wanted to have fun with it so after I sketched everything out in pen ink I took water colors and just flicked them onto the paper to give it more character.
For this piece I didn't know really what I wanted to do so I decided I wanted to draw a bug going to the bathroom so I looked up "people sitting on the toilet" and I ended up finding an old photo of James Franco sitting on the toilet drinking coffee and smoking a cig so I drew that and threw a bee's head on it to make it relate to the concentration. I called it "Morning Routine".
I wanted to really show my full style and make a bug all on my own and this is what happened. I had fun making it and it just felt like I was doing a normal sketch so there was no real stress with it.
